By Air : The Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International
Airport at Guwahati is 18 km from the city centre and is
well connected to New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai.
Indian Airlines, Air Sahara, Jet Airways, Air Deccan, Kingfisher
Airlines, SpiceJet and Indigo fly operate regular flights
to and from Guwahati.

Rail : The Guwahati railway station is in the centre
of town and operates a very useful left luggage service.
Assam has a convenient railway network connecting the state
to the rest of the country. There are train services from
Kolkata, New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin and
Trivandrum. B.G. line connection is up to Dibrugarh and M.G.
line with Haflong and Silchar.
Major towns within the state are also well connected by the
railway network.

Road : A network of National Highways and other roads
connect Guwahati with all the important places of Assam. It
is the connector city of NH - 31, 37 and 40 with the other
cities of India by road.
Situated
just behind the Guwahati Railway Station is the State Bus
Station. This is the Paltan Bazaar area of Guwahati from where
most of the private bus companies operate connecting Guwahati
with the rest of the state and the Northeast. Several private
travel companies as well as the Assam State Transport Corporation
operate a large network of buses around the state.
Within
the city, there is an efficient and extensive network of city
bus and mini bus services. Taxis and Trekkers are available
for transport within the city also but are without meters
and fares have to be negotiated and the same applies to Autorickshaws
and Cycle rickshaws.
